October First Friday at TRAX-“Fly North” by Chantelle Marie
Oct 4 @ 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm

First Friday’s are back at TRAX for the winter season and you know what that means!! Gorgeous art, great eats from Friar Tucks Hoagie House and TRAX, live rocking music with the Casey Smith Project and HooDoo beer on tap!

Our featured artist, Alaskan-based Chantelle Marie, has been scribbling illustrations since before she can remember—However, it wasn’t until she dabbled in acrylics in the Summer of 2017 that she discovered her passion for painting and an avenue to fully express herself artistically. A self-taught artist, Chantelle brings together elements of nature, design, and emotion to create unique and whimsical acrylic paintings. She believes that art is a way of one soul speaking to another—so it is with bright colours, bold designs, and an abstract, painterly style that she seeks to evoke joy and wonder in the hearts of those who gaze upon her work; the same emotions that the beauty of this world and brushstrokes on a canvas stir within her soul as she creates.

CASEY SMITH PROJECT is a three piece indie-rock band based out of Fairbanks, Alaska. Their music consists of intricate guitar looping, soulful vocal melodies and rhythmic drum beats. They draw their musical influences from bands like Modest Mouse, the Black Keys to Radio Head.

Everyone you see practicing in any yoga studio balancing on their hands or positioning themselves in the bendiest of shapes were at one time, a first-time yogi. Many of them probably couldn’t touch their toes at first!

But something moved them to investigate yoga further – whether it was too much stress, needing to lose weight, mending a broken heart, perhaps seeking a new beginning. Or simply, curiosity about all the fuss surrounding this practice.

And that’s all it takes—a simple step to commit to just TRY it and see how it fits your body. Once you are done with this two hour intensive, we hope you feel more comfortable and confident on your mats and at Trax Yoga.

Some things we’ll cover:

– Tips for brand new yogis
– Basic yoga poses
– Vinyasa and Sun Salutations
– What yoga is and isn’t
– Benefits of yoga

Winter is a time to celebrate! Norwegians have a word, “Koselig” which means a sense of coziness. Alaskans are well versed in getting cozy as the snow falls and the temperature plummets. We frolic outside doing our wintery activities then come in for warm hot cocoa and toasty blankets with the fireplace blazing in the background. It’s a beautiful time of year! This First Friday is all about gorgeous art and a warm and cozy atmosphere at Trax. We have a myriad of artists that will fill our studio walls for the Christmas season. Featured artists Matt Moberly, Anya Toelle, Brandy Klindworth and more will be gracing our walls with their lovely art and photography.

Ice cold HooDoo Kolsch will be on tap as well as various wines and yummy eats from Friar Tucks Hoagie House. Word has it that Keri will be baking up some delectable pretzel bites to dip in their famous Hoodoo cheese dip. And of course delicious and savory wontons:) Don’t be late to this First Friday!
